Med-Surg & Step-Down Units
Your med-surg and step-down units are where patients come to recover, stabilize, and start their journey home. They’re also where more nurses are leaving every year because the work has become unsustainable.
The pace is constant, often overwhelming. Your nurses manage orthopedic, cardiac, GI, respiratory, and multiple other specialties simultaneously, switching between different care protocols while managing up to eight patients at once. Some are simple post-op recoveries. Others are unstable and complex.
The infrastructure wasn’t built for this. Systems operate in silos, and documentation takes hours that nurses don’t have. Alarms go off constantly, most of them with no clinical significance, and over time your team learns to tune them out just to survive the shift. Important details like telemetry changes get lost when patients transfer between units, forcing the incoming nurse to reconstruct the patient’s story from fragments instead of a complete picture.
Your care team spends most of their day managing systems and piecing together patient information that should already be visible. We built our solutions to change that.

Patient Visibility
When data is scattered across separate systems, nurses spend their shift switching between monitors, EMR windows, and patient rooms just to understand the full scope of what’s happening. Managing patients with different conditions at the same time means every system-switch potentially puts someone at risk.
Life Scope® Central Station brings what you need together on two displays that monitor up to 32 patients with trends, alerts, and early warning scores simultaneously. RemoteSense™ extends that visibility so anyone who needs eyes on a patient can monitor from any secure location without abandoning their other responsibilities.

Intelligent Alerting
When monitors generate hundreds of non-actionable alarms every day, nurses learn to tune them out. This creates a dangerous environment where the one critical alert that signals patient deterioration can be the one that gets missed.
Life Scope® G5 and G7 monitors use advanced algorithms to reduce false alarms, so alerts at the bedside are more likely to represent clinically significant events. AlarmSense™ analyzes up to 90 days of alarm data to identify which settings generate the most false alerts across your unit. You can then test changes and adjust alarm settings based on actual patterns.

Patient Mobility
Post-op patients need to walk within hours of surgery. Wired monitoring keeps them confined to bed, turning early ambulation into a risk instead of standard care.
Life Scope® G3 Telemetry Series delivers continuous cardiac, respiratory, and SpO2 monitoring with fall detection so patients can walk safely while nurses maintain full visibility. The BSM -1700 Transport Monitor is designed to support continuous monitoring during transport, helping your team capture critical data as patients move between units.

Integrated Documentation
Nurses spend up to two hours documenting every shift, most of it away from the bedside. It’s never urgent but always there, pulling time away from recognizing early signs of deterioration, preventing complications, and helping patients get better.
Life Scope® Central Station connects directly to your EMR, automatically sending vital signs and monitoring data to the patient record without manual transcription. You get a more complete and accurate patient record without burning out your team to create it.

Respiratory Management & Support
Patients face ongoing risk of respiratory depression from opioids, anesthesia, and underlying lung disease.
cap-ONE® continuous CO₂ monitoring enables clinicians to identify hypercapnia or hypoventilation early, before it becomes dangerous. For step-down patients, the NKV-330 ventilator provides both non-invasive and invasive capabilities.
