Our History
Nihon Kohden was founded in 1951 by Dr. Yoshio Ogino, an engineer who believed that uniting medicine and electronics could help save human lives.
From its earliest days, the company has focused on medical electronics (“ME”), working to fight disease with electronics and contribute to the welfare of people and society beyond borders.
Guided by this philosophy, Nihon Kohden has spent more than 75 years developing technologies that support healthcare professionals and patients around the world.

Our Vision
We seek better patient outcomes and economy of medical care by remaining a close partner with healthcare professionals and patients around the world, and by leveraging our problem-solving capabilities rooted in clinical expertise.
Guided by three brand concepts – Humanity, Sustainability, and Reliability – we work together with people everywhere to solve their problems, create a sustainable future based on shared values, and build reliability through high quality, advanced technology and performance.

Japanese Quality and Reliability
Most medical device companies outsource production. We don’t.
We manufacture our products in house, from main units to sensors to printed circuit boards, with every component passing through five quality checkpoints. Specialized parts that machines can't handle are hand-soldered by certified assemblers, and each worker attaches a label with their name inside as a personal commitment to quality.
It's not the fastest way to build, but it's the right way for us.

Corporate Social Responsibility
Our mission to improve health goes beyond hospital walls.
Since 2004, we have provided CPR and AED training globally, donated refurbished medical equipment to training schools, and placed AEDs at all our facilities. We work toward carbon neutrality by 2050, support fair practices across our supply chain, and create a workplace where diversity is genuinely valued.
We approach sustainability the same way we approach quality: as a responsibility, not a marketing message.

Ethics & Integrity
We hold ourselves to the highest standards of fairness, transparency, and responsibility.
Nihon Kohden’s Ethics & Compliance program sets clear expectations for every employee and supports the patients, clinicians, and partners who rely on us.
